Amandeep Singh, MS.c(Aust), MA(UK), B.Sc Hons(UK) is a counsellor by profession and an accomplished yogi, having studied in-depth many yogic traditions in India. He is a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher, a scholar with Kundalini Research Institute, a KRI Professional Teacher Trainer and a teacher of Eastern Spirituality. He brings great depth, accuracy, joy and spontaneity to his teaching of Kundalini Yoga. Being inspired by Yogi Bhajan, he travels around the world sharing the teachings of Kundalini Yoga.
Basantdeep Kaur is a Certified KRI Kundalini, Classical and Hormone Yoga Therapy instructor. Since 1995 her passion for yoga has grown continuously as she has explored a variety of yoga styles and realized the tremendous healing and transformational power of yoga. After completing Rei-Ki II and graduating from Classical Yoga training at Humber College, she completed the Beyond Addiction Yoga training with Sat Dharam Kaur ND. Since then Basantdeep has been helping students to conquer addictive behaviours by teaching the Beyond Addiction program in her yoga studio and at the Vitanova Foundation Treatment Center in Woodbridge, Ontario. She became certified as a Healthy Breast Educator and assists women in recovering from breast cancer through teaching the Healthy Breast Program designed by Sat Dharam Kaur ND. Basantdeep also provides training and classes for women interested in hormone balance, improved fertility and menopausal symptom management. Her private practice is based in Richmond Hill Ontario.
Daya Kaur has been practicing Kundalini Yoga since 1996, teaching, and living a yogic lifestyle since 2002. Certified through KRI, IKYTA with additional training in Healthy Breast Program, KY for Addiction Recovery, Radiant Child, and Holistic Nutrition. She weaves the physical aspect and philosophy of yoga with a daily spiritual discipline, aware that these sacred teachings are still relevant today. Daya Kaur thrives on sharing this knowledge and guiding others on their personal path.
Dr. Gabor Maté is a Vancouver physician, author and public speaker who specializes in the study and treatment of addiction and mind/body health. He has authored the best-selling In the Realm of the Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction, Hold Onto Your Kids, When the Body Says No and Scattered Minds: A New Look at the Origins and Healing of Attention Deficit Disorder. Dr. Maté will be present to share his insights and experience each Saturday morning of the course.
Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D., LPCC, is a leading Trainer in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, and has helped to compile and elucidate Yogi Bhajan’s teachings since 1969. Gurucharan Singh combines Western scientific training with Eastern traditions to develop practical approaches to personal growth and fulfillment. His first degrees and graduate studies were from Harvey Mudd College and Claremont Graduate School. His major emphasis was in mathematics, with a broad training in physics, chemistry, engineering and a minor in psychology. Later Gurucharan Singh earned both an M.Ed. at Boston University and a Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis on research in meditation and clinical counseling. He has a keen understanding of Humanology, the psychology of personal excellence developed by Yogi Bhajan, and has used it in clinical practice for three decades as well as developed trainings in Humanology for therapists and healers.
Born in Guru Ram Das ashram in Toronto, Gurushabd grew up in a spiritual community of Kundalini Yogis, healers, teachers, and Sikhs. When she was 13 Gurushabd spent a year studying at a yogic school in India. She became a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher at the age of 17 and has been teaching ever since. Gurushabd has also trained in mindfulness meditation with Shinzen Young and recently participated in a mindfulness meditation study at Harvard. As a teacher Gurushabd is known for her open-heart, sweetness, and grace, combined with a depth of wisdom beyond her years. An avid beekeeper, educator and creator of conscious community, Gurushabd graduated from U of T in environmental studies, worked for NGOs at the United Nations in Geneva and in Mumbai, and is now the owner and director of Lotus Yoga Center. Har-Prakash Khalsa has been teaching Kundalini Yoga and meditation since 1985. Beginning as a student of Zen meditation, Har-Prakash went on to become a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor and teacher of Mindfulness meditation in the algorithmic secular style of Shinzen Young (whom Har-Prakash has studied intensively with since 1999). Har-Prakash has also studied with Joshu Sasaki Roshi (Rinzai Zen) and Leah Brasington (Jhana teacher). He has participated in many inipi ceremonies (sweat lodges) with the native elder Vern Harper. Har-Prakash has a deep love for the finer points of the meditation process from various traditions, including the contemplative Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Sufi and Buddhist and scientific perspectives. He has an ongoing passion and gift for teaching how each contemplative approach fits within the human sensory system, and how meditation in any style can be deepened for yogis at any level.
Krishna Kaur is a dynamic heart centered yoga teacher who studied with Yogi Bhajan for over 25 years, and has been teaching Kundalini Yoga all over the world since 1970.
In 1993 Krishna founded Y.O.G.A. for Youth, an amazing program that takes yoga and meditation into after school programs, and juvenile detention facilities and prisons. Krishna also founded the International Association of Black Yoga Teachers (IABYT) in 1998 to serve the African Diaspora by spreading these teachings to inner cities and to be a bridge for underserved communities around the world.
Nirmal Singh is a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Trainer, and has taught Kundalini Yoga since 1999. After a successful career in advertising, he created The Wellness Path which offers Kundalini Yoga, Polarity Therapy and Brain Gym. He currently produces 3HO events including sacred chant concerts for Snatam Kaur and others, White Tantric Yoga, advanced yoga workshops and the advanced Level 2 teacher training courses conducted by international trainers.
Paramjot was born in Thailand into a Punjabi Sikh family. He is an artist and certified Kundalini Yoga teacher who specializes in teaching yoga for recovering from addiction, trauma, stress and depression. He has taught kundalini yoga regularly at a 12-step based recovery clinic in Thailand and with private clients. Paramjot is adept at helping people to heal by using yoga, mantra and meditation to displace unhealthy thought patterns, and to build positive attitudes and habits. Paramjot travels regularly, facilitating Beyond Addiction workshops in Europe, Asia and Russia.
Sat Amrit is a Certified Kundalini, Hatha, and Ashtanga yoga teacher. He is also a Certified Reiki Master, an initiate of ancient healing and manifesting traditions, and has 21 years of experience using the performing arts and healing modalities to empower youth and help them break through personal limitations. He is currently taking ongoing training in the power of yoga as a lifestyle and tool for personal transformation under the guidance of Sat Dharam Kaur ND and KRI.
Sat Dharam is a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher trainer and instructor, author, and naturopathic doctor practicing in Owen Sound, Ontario. She has studied Kundalini Yoga with Yogi Bhajan since 1976 and has facilitated teacher training programs in Toronto (ON), Canmore (AB), and New Mexico. She has developed an addiction recovery program using Kundalini Yoga as well as a breast health yoga training, designed to help educate women in breast cancer prevention through Kundalini Yoga and lifestyle change. A featured teacher at the Toronto Yoga Show for many years, as well as the Vancouver Yoga Show and at Khalsa Women’s Camp in New Mexico, she has written several best selling books: A Call to Women: The Healthy Breast Program and Workbook, The Complete Natural Medicine Guide to Breast Cancer, and The Complete Natural Medicine Guide to Women's Health.
Sat Kaur Khalsa has been practicing and teaching Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan for 17 years. Trained in Toronto, she relocated to beautiful Nelson, British Columbia in 2001. She has been honoured to serve the community by building a strong sangat of students, and supporting students in becoming teachers, in a community where Kundalini Yoga was relatively unheard of. A former law clerk, and currently hockey mom and Lazure painter, she is passionately committed to support students in achieving their infinite potential through the gifts of these sacred teachings.
Siri Hari Kaur has been teaching Kundalini Yoga since 2002, and introduced Kundalini Yoga to Okotoks in 2008, where there is now a thriving community of teachers and students. She is an Internationally Certified Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Certified Radiant Child Yoga Teacher, and is currently taking her Level 2 certification. Siri Hari loves the opportunity to help students find a deeper connection to their bodies and minds through this practice, creating a safe space where people can develop a deeper awareness of their bodies, and learn how to quiet their minds.
Tej Kaur left France to live in Toronto in 1999 where she discovered Kundalini Yoga and began her spiritual journey. She is a certified KRI Kundalini Yoga Teacher with a specialization in Addiction Recovery. Like many people today, she has experienced first-hand the effects that addiction can have on people close to us. Having worked with indigenous people in both North and South America, she has witnessed the effect that addiction to drugs and alcohol have had in eroding societal values and culture. Tej is motivated to help people return "Home" to their true selves from the grips of addiction, whether it be heavy drugs, unhealthy thought patterns or excess consumerism.
